Hello! My name is Maura Young, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of New York City. I’ve been in practice for over 20 years, and recieved my Masters in Social Welfare from The University of California, Berkeley. I also did my Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training at The Palo Alto Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and Stanford University.
I bring a lifelong curiosity and personal commitment to my profession. My work draws on many years of professional and personal experience in a range of topics such as mood concerns, family and relationship dynamics, work-life harmony, addiction and recovery, contemplating motherhood, women and aging, caregiver burnout, sandwich generation (caring for children and aging parents) and much more.
I honor each client’s uniqueness as I tailor specific therapy for you. My holistic and flexible approach utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, life review, mindfulness and meditation, as well as psychodynamic practices. I use a myriad of scientifically proven modalities that help you settle in quickly to address your goals and begin the process of healing.
I blieve that it is essential for a healthy and joyful life to honor and integrate all aspects of who we are – body, mind and spirit. Thus, a lifelong commitment to yoga, spirituality, and meditation has inspired both my personal life and clinical practice. As a result, I also incorporate mind/body practices into the therapy process.
Let’s help you reach your goals…I know it takes humility and courage to reach out for help. But, if you are willing to do the work, your life will change. I am passionate about guiding clients along each step of their healing journey and I am excited to get started!

Before your therapy visit, check your coverage with our Peace of Mind Calculator, which estimates how much you'll be reimbursed once you hit your deductible or out-of-pocket max.
Remember superbills, those long invoices you got from your therapist? How about claim forms? You don’t need either of those. We’ll handle your claims electronically and file them for free.
Check the status of your claims with our free Client Portal, which gives you a real-time window into the reimbursement process so you don’t have to worry if the check is in the mail.
We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.
We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.
You only need to make sure we have your most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!
Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.
Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.
Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.
You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.
Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
We’re glad to answer any questions you have. Email us at help@meetnirvana.com and someone from our Help Desk will reach out to you.
