Hello! My name is Alyssa Ashenfarb and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of New York City. I’m a Boston College alum, a member of the William Alanson White Institute of Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and certified by the Justice Resource Institute in Traumatic Stress Studies.
Are you drained from repeating the same cycles in your life over and over again? This can feel so disappointing, especially when you feel like you've tried absolutely everything to break out of that loop. Don't worry—you're not alone, and there are ways to feel more in control.
Imagine feeling confident in your life decisions, relationships, and career. A life where you can feel more confident in your sense of self and your choices. You deserve to feel in control of your life, and therapy can help you get there.
My style is interpersonal, collaborative, and open-minded. Through balancing humor, empathy, and depth, I help my clients move beyond the symptoms that led them to me in the first place. I specialize in treating anxiety, self esteem issues, and trauma and PTSD, but my work also covers issues like anger management, attachment issues, depression, emotional abuse, physical abuse, family conflict, and grief.
I have experience working with adults from the LGBTQI community, and people who deal with dissociative disorders, mood disorders and personality disorders. A few therapies I utilize in my practice include: Acceptance and Commitment (ACT),
Attachment-based, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), existential, humanistic, Internal Family Systems (IFS), positive psychology, and psychodynamic therapy.
I’m here to give you the tools to become a more confident and relationally connected person—to truly understand your sense of self and where you belong in this world.
Costs for sessions are on a sliding scale ranging from $150 - $175 per meeting, and can be paid for with American Express, Discover, Health Savings Account, Mastercard, Paypal, Venmo, Visa, and Wire.
Before your therapy visit, check your coverage with our Peace of Mind Calculator, which estimates how much you'll be reimbursed once you hit your deductible or out-of-pocket max.
Remember superbills, those long invoices you got from your therapist? How about claim forms? You don’t need either of those. We’ll handle your claims electronically and file them for free.
Check the status of your claims with our free Client Portal, which gives you a real-time window into the reimbursement process so you don’t have to worry if the check is in the mail.
We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.
We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.
You only need to make sure we have your most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!
Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.
Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.
Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.
You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.
Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
We’re glad to answer any questions you have. Email us at help@meetnirvana.com and someone from our Help Desk will reach out to you.
